Samuel J. “Chip” Asbury IV is the founder, President, and CEO of Asbury Management Group, Inc., a leading multi-state consumer finance company he established in 2005 following a distinguished 27-year career in retail banking and consumer credit. With executive leadership roles at four national banks, Chip brought a deep expertise in consumer lending, credit risk management, and operational excellence that has fueled AMG’s strong growth and reputation for high-quality service.

During his ten-year tenure at First Union Corporation, Chip held several senior leadership positions, culminating in his role as President of Capitol Finance Group, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary offering consumer finance, mortgage, equipment leasing, and insurance services. He also served on the First Union Corporation Expanded Management Committee. His corporate experience further includes leadership roles at Aristar, Inc. (a subsidiary of Great Western Bank), Washington Mutual Finance, and CitiFinancial, a subsidiary of Citigroup.

Leveraging this foundation, Chip built Asbury Management Group to combine disciplined underwriting with a strong consumer-centered model. Under his leadership, AMG has expanded to 80 branches across the Southeast and Southwest and developed a performance-driven culture that rewards employees for operational excellence and outstanding customer service.

Chip holds an MBA, a B.A. in Business Administration, and a B.A. in Economics from Pfeiffer University, which also awarded him an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. In 2025, he completed the Owner/President Management (OPM) program at Harvard Business School.

Deeply committed to professional and community leadership, Chip formerly served on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the South Carolina Financial Services Association and was a board member of the Georgia Installment Lenders Association and served on the advisory board of the American Financial Services Association Independents Section. He previously chaired the Board of Trustees at Pfeiffer University for two terms and led the Executive Committee at Matthews United Methodist Church. He is also a founder of Matthews Alive!, a nonprofit community services organization, and remains actively engaged with industry and community initiatives.
